Are you just timid, or are you going to haul a tractor or something..?? If you could drive down Jellico with your load, you won't have any trouble anywhere else between Choo-Choo and Knoxville..
If you have a good load (and you MUST have trailer brakes), start down your hill starting over the top at reduced speed..maybe as low as 20 MPH and control the speed..increasing the speed to 55 by the time you get to the bottom.. NEVER start down with already "Hot" brakes.. If you know the road, you won't be using your brakes nearly as hard as if you don't.
Some places even require you to Stop at the top of the hill..(Mt College, Pa), and there is a town at the bottom of the hill (20 MPH)...!!!! That can be "fun" without a "Jake"..!! I ran to San Bernadino, Ca. for 10 years before we got any Jakes or power steering (From the "Queen City"..Cincinnati)..36 hrs out, 35 hrs back..Max-Gross..50 times a year..
