I almost got caught once, scared me pretty good. I was hooking up a disk, and didnt know the pto was running and I felt it hit my leg i pulled it straight back and luckally i didnt get hurt. From then on i have shut off the tractor or double and triple check that the pto is off and the 3pt lever is all the way down (same tractor, girl friends grandad almost got caught up in the 3 point when it decided to lift up on its own). I think this tractor has a death wish for everyone. Horse got killed when he somehow got his leg caught up on the side, and ended up cutting an artery. We were at church, tractor was parked, we showed up and i went out to start working on the tractor, and i found her horse dead beside the tractor, and blood everywhere. That was not easy to tell her. Moral of the story, better shutting off equipment (yes its not always easy) before hooking up implements, and make sure all the safety guards are in place. Yes safety takes extra time, but its much easier than taking a trip to the hospital, or even spending a few days in pain.

To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
