Hi Ben, Ok I will try and turn the pump 180 and see how it runs tomarrow night. I let you know how it goes. Also I'm trying to upload the timing procedure out of the manual i'm useing. Thanks , Hal.[/img]
Well I tried timing the pump 180deg and It would only run off of the either.
I took the return hose off the top of the pump and let the fuel run into a bucket. ( stiil hard to start and lots of white smoke) Next I made a cover out of plexiglass to cover the timing opening in the pump , to observe the advance cam, (It move approx 1/4 " down from where it started ) I started getting a louder knock at idle. Opened # 5 & # 4 injector at the same time and knock went away. So I put all of the original injectors back in. ( Knock is gone at idle)
Smoke is still there. Hard start still there, Poor accell and a couple of knocks on accell still there. I talked to the owner today and found out that he installed this pump 2 yrs ago, and also had these very same conditions ( Hard start and white smoke) when I asked what he did to get it to run, he said that he advanced the pump alot untill it would start and not smoke as much.( he couldn't tell me how much) So I turned the pump as much as the adjustment on the gear would go. ( Helped some but still alot of smoke and intermintent knock on accell) I ordered a new pump today, should have it by middle of next week. Let you know how it goes when it gets here.( pump # DM 4629ME 2816)
