I gotta put in a plug for Allan on this one. During the mid 80s, (I think it was the era) Chevy came out with the 454SS pickup. Yep, it had the 454 engine in it. Guess what. They never put the 700R4 behind this engine. The reason they didn"t it because GM didn"t want to have to warranty the truck. You could very easily put a 700R4 in it, but you had to baby the truck and if you had the 454, who wants to do that? If you put a 700R4 behind that engine, you better have beefed it up a little bit.
