If you plan on doing a lot of road running, I would use some larger, high-output LEDs which penetrate even on bright days. You can run an external harness equipped with a flasher from an auto parts store. You would have to have a separate relay for the turn signal switch, which should be given flasher-override authority. Mount the switches on a bracket, to the fender, with a good 20 amp fuse and a male/female disconnect right to the battery post. Route harness in flexible plastic, and you should have a portable flasher unit.
