never had this happen til this year... squirrels falling in to horse troughs and drowning. have found 5 in the last 2 weeks. This trough is 300 yards from the nearest tree! plus, it"s been raining cats and dogs out here, so there is plenty of water.
I"ve had mice fall into 5 gallon pails and drown in a few inches of water- usually see this in winter during a hard freeze. The squirrel thing is kind of weird.
I tossed a tree branch in to give them something to climb out on...hopefully no more "floaters"!
