Oh boy, you and Randy are gonna get into it again. I understand your point, I had a degree in dairy from MSU and was home starting my herd by the time I was 19. I got that urge from my grandpa, he milked till he was 82. I had the misfortune to not survive the big price dump that happened in most of 2000, and sold my herd. I cried myself to sleep for the better part of a year it seemed. I am raising a small herd of heifers to try to get back in, because it is just a part of me. But I do totally understand what Randy is saying about just being able to go out and see the beautiful world around us. For example, this week is WDE, I never was able to go when I had the cows. The first year I went was 2001, and I was like a kid in the candy store. It was the first time I had really had a vacation. I had milked for over five years and never had a milking off. Now I know the old farts will say that is nothing but for a 19-24 yo kid, that is commitment. I can still remember the feeling of being able to totally relax and enjoy myself with out the stress of the barn full of cows. Don't get me wrong, every once in awhile I get the chance to visit a farm, walk in a stall barn and see the clean content cows all lined up, they just seem happy, and it hits me in the gut. That is what I am supposed to be doing, but as my landlord reminds me constantly, scripture says there is a season for everything under Heaven. The Lord hasn't taken away my hearts desire to milk again, so I just have to be content for now and wait for my season to come.
