I've still got more beef cattle than I ever had dairy cows. Run 70-80 mama cows, depending on how much rain we get for the feed situation. I finish all of the calves out in the old dairy lot. I can handle those chores alright and the oldest son had a couple of cows here himself,so if I need help or want to go somewhere,he doesn't have any problem taking care of things. I've still got some passion for the cattle business, but I know full well I'd be dead by now if I'd have tried to keep milking. No doubt in my mind. If somebody has the passion and the health for milking cows, good for them, but things can change in an instant. Shortly before my last episode,a guy just west of here,my age had an incident with his heart. It was skipping and fluttering. They took him to the hospital and told him they could keep him for 3 days and treat him with meds,or they could stop his heart, restart it and he'd be on his way. He had cows to milk and couldn't spend 3 days away,or so he thought. They stopped his heart and couldn't restart it. His widow and brother had an auction shortly after. You don't have to hit me up side the head to get my attention. I'm still here. It's just the holsteins that are gone.

After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
