It has been long awaited and caused much concern but we have started harvest.

This is dekalb 58-16 planted on may 11. It is testing 26% and happily it is yielding as well as we had hoped. We picked about 20 acres to get this farm opened up and see if everything was going to work. I fired up the drier and stirator and now we will just have to wait for it to dry. Weather looks bad, rain, maybe lots of rain. Cool weather will follow with maybe lows in the high 20's. This year just wont give us a break.
This tree stands alone as a silent guardian over the prarie. Its is a osage orange or as we call them hedge trees. Not so many years ago there were countless hedge rows surrounding farms in this area. Almost all of it is gone now. This one lone tree stands square in the middle of a quarter section as a reminder of what used to be. bill
