There should be a button on your remote that says "format", that will allow you to change the size of the picture. Like the other guys said, if your not receiving HD signal the picture will be narrow. I have had that happen on the weather channel where the picture would be fullscreen and they would go to a commercial break and come back and the picture would be narrow and then later it would be full screen.
