I second Truck's suggestion of hair dryer or heat gun. 3M makes an adhesive remover that you should be able to buy in an auto parts supply store that also sells paint to body shops. It comes in quart cans, works well to remove the sticky residue, and is designed for automotive finishes so it will not hurt the paint. Good luck!
