A lot depends on where you are, what markets they are looking at, and how hard you are willing to work. I'm on the board of directors of an insurance company and my significant other works as a claims adjuster. What I've observed is the career agents make a living but work hard for it. The agency managers make big money but once again, they earn it. Its a tough tough business the first few years.
Auto ins sells the easiest but the comissions run lower. For auto its 2.5 pct while property and casualty its 10 pct. Life ins is the best but it takes the most effort to sell. Theres a whole lot of licensing to work on too.
