Fred- Recommend snoop around and find an old wheeled type auto service station battery charger. They had a multiposition charge rate switch, that started with low 6 volts and went thru high rate 12 volts and did so in steps. The operator was to read the ampmeter charge rate and adjust the switch to what was needed. My bet is that the high end of the 6 volt, or low end of the 12 volt, will be what you need for that 8 volt battery. When you get fed up with all the 8 volt nonsense go ahead and switch to 12 volts and be done with it... Good luck, IHank
