About 6am last Sunday, my wife woke me and asked me to take her to the ER at our local hospital. She just hurt all over and her hands were swollen so she couldn't even close into a fist. We didn't know what the heck was going on.
The doctor on duty diagnosed it as "Fifth's Disease". We'd never heard of it before. It's a rare viral thing and she had the classic symptoms.
The treatment was a couple of shots of steroids and some pain pills. By Monday she was feeling much better and by now is about back to normal. I guess you learn something new every day.
