Awhile back I descibed some ponds that were full one day empty the next.I found the one I was missing for a while. Its 4 miles east of Higginsville on the north side of Hiway 20.The other is right past route T on the west side of Richmond on 210 Hiway. The one at Richmond has some water in the bottom of it,plus it has a chain link fence around it.The one by Higginsville is smaller, maybe a little over half full.Proportionally it might be the same amount of water. Its been raining a lot lately. Both of them had green slime on them and were full to the top one day, then empty the next day about the last of August.Thats how I noticed them at first. Now since I was looking for that one I noticed there are other ponds in the area just farther from the road, still full, and lots bigger. Also Railroad tracks not far from either place even though they are 30 or 40 miles apart. Also Higginsville one is about straight south of Richmond one. Both places are sites of Civil War battles or close to them.I never noticed this until seeing them empty with the slime on the wall of the pond so you know it went out the bottom and not over the side or through the dam.The one at Higginsville is definitely on a farm,up in a corner next to a gravel road and kind of doesnt make sense now.Maybe years ago it caught water in a holler or something but its higher than the surrounding land now.I dont know what the other one is,but its closer to town so it might be connected to the town some way.Still funny both were empty the same day.I guess they could be some kind of fish pond that has a way to empty out from the bottom.Or maybe they have a pipe in there and pump the water to another place for stock or something.Doesnt seem like enough water for all that trouble. There is some kind of pipeline close to the one at Higginsville.
