The unusually wet and warm weather was great for growing, but the corn was too wet for the upright silo.Did about 20 acres in a small bunker and a pile between two rows of tube lined straw.Still left with 25 acres of 11 foot tall corn that wasn't even in the ballpark of being down under 65% for the tower.Got a real good frost the night before last. Most everything was white and there was even a scumm of ice on the puddles.Looked at the corn today and what was lush green is now whitish green and all dehydrated looking.Leaves are shriveled up and everything.By early next week should be nearly all white/yellow color and perfect for the miserable tower silo.Have learned the hard way for many years, don't cut corn for a tower till after a good frost. When the corn field smells like a freshly raked field of dry hay,it's perfect.
