So much for the government being serious about alternative energy,at least in Michigan. There was an article in the Farm Bureau paper about a greenhouse/nursery grower who spent $630,000 on a solar collector to heat water to heat his greenhouses and to install 2 windmills to generate electricity. He did everything right, got the tax credits and all. Now,dispite 2 public acts to the contrary, the State Tax Commission has instructed local assessors to ad solar collectors to the tax rolls as improvements to real property and to tax wind generators as personal property. The result in this case was a $7,700 increase in his property taxes. He says that's more than he was paying for gas and fuel oil to heat the old way. Says that if the State Tax Tribunal doesn't overturn the Tax Commission,he'll either have to tear out the whole $630,000 setup or go out of business. Problem is,there is a 50,000 case backlog at the Tax Tribunal. Legislation has been introduced again to overturn the order, but it hasn't come to a vote and likely won't. They claim state government can't afford to give up the revenue.

Four hundred pounds of rim, tire, and fluid dropped to the ground like a sack of wet cement. Fortunately the installer jumped out of the wa
