Yup--some beautiful country, but nowhere to be stuck outside for long in winter! I'm just off the Tug Hill Plateau--300" of snow a year, and said to be the most east of the Rockies. The old loggers would tell tales of cutting off trees flush with the snow in winter and then coming back in summer and taking a 12-foot log off the stump! Granting that some of those tales belong in the same category as Paul Bunyan's logging exploits, it was still an incredible challenge to bring out the timber (and bring it out they did!) back in the days before dozers and skidders, and even with them it's no walk in the park.
