Yesterday, the local newspaper gave the startling statistic that only 13% of Nebraska's corn crop has been harvested. There are also still plenty of soybeans still in the field.
The recent weather pattern has been one or two dry days alternated with four or five days of rain, or at least too adverse to harvest. The extended outlook is more of the same.
Our renter did get ours done, but he still has some of his own and some custom committments yet to go. Plus just as he was finishing ours, one of his two semis had an electrical fire under the hood. This isn't going to be a year people look back on with fond memories.
