I will second the Glock; but they are pricey. My wife has a Glock 19 and just LOVES it.

I actually find myself with a Kel-tec P11, it is a pocket sized 9mm that hold 13 and can be bought for small money, and it is so small I don"t even know I am carrying it.

Has a little belt clip and it just rides "mexican carry" but it can"t fall out with the clip.

Around my parts the chances are greater I will need protection from 4 legged varmits then the 2 legged variety. So it goes on no matter what and I forget about having it on for the rest of the day.

When I bought it used I took it to the range and shot it dirty, and then shot it some more until I knew I could count on it.
