I have a MF-2135 with front loader and a 6' box blade w/ripper teeth. I did what you are asking when I had to dig up some burried lines. I had 3' of some pretty rocky soil over the lines so I began running a 6' wide "trench." It went pretty slow but beat the tar outa a pick and shovel. After an hour or so, I had a 2' deep trench cut but would hate to think how long it would take to go much deeper. After a while, you start to dig a hole that's difficult to lift the material out of. The front loader wouldn't help much either because it's designed to lift material up "from" the tractor as opposed to a backhoe that lifts material up "to" the tractor. Loaders don't dig holes very well. I think a box blade and loader is taking the long way around the barn when what you really need is a dozer or better yet, and excavator.
