I have a question, is the mill permanently shut down now? I hope it doesn't end up a mess like in Niagara. A lot of people do not realize how important the paper industry is in towns like Ontonogan, Escanaba, Iron Mountain, Munising, and Manistique. I think this talk of the tourism industry is hurting our communities. Nobody knows this better than the old timers in the upper peninsula's copper country. This area's story is not well known to others but could serve as a prime example of what happens when the jobs move out.
I know that the Ontonogan community will bounce back. Mine boom and bust, Great fires, It has survived before and it will bounce back again. That speaks of the character of the residents there.
