all wheel drive steam in action

If any of you steam buffs or AWD addicts want to see AWD steam in action go to Cass, West Virginia and ride the Shay engine driven train that climbs an 11% grade while going up a mountain. 12 drive wheels all locked together. It has an external driveshaft and exposed connecting rods. Really squells when turning a bend. Climbs several thousand feet in a few miles of run. Very impressive and well worth the trip. The state of WV operates it and has houses for rent in the town for overnight visitors. No I don't work for WV, I live in Wisconsin but have ridden that train and hope to do so again. I know, it is not a tractor but it's only real difference is you don't need to steer it.
