I used to buy the cheapest stuff at tsc then add the coolant conditioner to bring it up to specs for HD diesel engines. Was looking at a name brand HD diesel antifreeze and discovered that it was actually cheaper than my cheapie antifreeze+ coolant conditioner mix,and I know the additive package is right. Guess a guy shouldn't take anything for granted, I have changed coolant on my equipment and never used a tester on it, just took it for granted that my 60/40 mix was OK. I never add water, always have a 5 gal jug of premix on hand so I don't dilute the coolant. I use a coolant test kit and coolant conditioner to keep the additives at spec and flush and change every 2-3 years depending on hours. Not worth the risk not to do this with engines at $9000 and radiators at $1500!!.
