It's good to hear from you Lanse. The other guys are right, go outside and take a break, kick a tree and cuss a little, then when you go back to the tractor. You do better work when your mind isn't all fuddled up.
The throttle plate could have been put in the carb upside down. A lot of times the screw holes in the plate are not in the center of the plate. The fat side of the plate should be down. If the fat side is up it could possibly hit the manifold. Most of us have made this mistake though we don't want to admit it. Good luck. Jim
