Back in 1986 I bought a 47 foot sailboat with a 100 hp nissan diesel. It was actually a 75 hp marinized and in the use waas a 100hp. The boat was 11 years old and had been run up and down the intercoastal for 9 years and to the Virgin Islands etc. I figureed the engine had abot 10.000 hours on it from the log books. I figured I would soon have to repower but the boat was a bargain because of the engine, I changed injectors and manifold , a solenoid and rewired to glow plugs. It was still going strong when I sold at in 2000 with atleast another 6000 hours on it. In all the years I ahad the boat I had to add i qt of oil for every 10 hours. I did find out that it was the same basic engine that was used in the IH Scouts There are still thousands of them in California used as off road vehicles. Henry
