Hi Paul , I'm not familiar with the four digit Oliver tractors(No personal experience), only the older ones. But I do a lot of reading and reserch. From what I have read , they were good dependable tractors. What I'm about to say is only my opinion. I think the reason I don't see a lot of Oliver 1550's , or 1555's around is that when a farmer wanted to buy a bigger tractor , he bought 1600 , and later a 1650. Which were very good dependable tractors. The 1550 did not even come into the picture untill the year 1965. So it was kind of a late bloomer. By then , farmers were looking at tractors which were bigger.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
