Give me an example. Which ones on my list did not get good fuel mileage and were not long lasting?
My 87 3/4 ton 4WD Chevy Suburban got 520,000 miles on it before the diesel engine blew. And it still being used with it's 2nd engine. That is not long lived?
Both my 1981 diesel Chevettes get 45 plus MPG on any highway trips. One has over 200K miles and the engine has never had any internal repairs.
We have two 1991 Volkswagen Jetta diesels. Both average around 48 MPG on highway runs, with a few runs over 50 MPG. Driving steep hill and dirt back roads they get 38 MPG which is amazing.
I could say the same for many others. My 1982 Chevy K10 diesel truck has been great. Gets a best of 24 MPG which is pretty good for a 1/2 ton, full-size, 4WD truck. Also considering it's almost 30 years old, I'll say it's been long-lived.
