Folks think I'm kidding when I repeat the old saw about "The more people I meet, the better I like my dog" but none of my dogs has ever lied to me, talked about me behind my back or tried to cheat me.
I'm getting old enough that losing a dog hurts a little more every time. My current "pup" will be 12 in January and tore a ligament in her back leg this summer. Getting some weight off her has helped a lot, but it's much harder for her to get around now.
Hardest thing in the world to do is decide where the line is between caring for your dog and torturing it by keeping it alive past it's time because you can't let go.
