The Kohler KT-17 plain, They are not labeled Series 1, does not have a fully pressurized oiling system. The rods are lubed by spray. On the one I rebuilt for Dad about 2 months ago, I drilled some extra oiling holes in the rods. There are not any in the new rods I bought. I would also run a synthetic oil like MOBILE ONE 10W-30 in a KT 17. I have a KT-17 Series II that I re-powered a Gravely 812. The Series II has a fully pressurized oiling system. I run Mobile ONE in my KT-17 as I use it in cold weather to blow snow, if we have any. I have rebuilt several. Dad bought a JD 317 without an engine. I have enoug parts to build another KT-17 but I only have a good plane case. i think I an make the case a Series II.
