Is your float metal? Can you hear anything sloshing around in your float? There is really not much to them, the float operates like the float in your toilet, when the fuel level rises, the float rises, and pushed the needle and seat closed. They need to be adjusted, and will leak if the needle and seat leak by. Please post pictures if you can.
