I like the old popping JD's of the 40's.. We had one... But by the late 50's everyone else was far ahead of JD... Seems to me JD did a good job marketing and selling had a great dealer network ( they still do) But they let the other guys spend the money on engineering and advancing. They still hang on to old ideas for a about 10 years longer that anyone else and see want works and just copy the other guys... Look at the NEW JD combines today 20 years after everyone else has gone rotary... JD is a great company they sell a great products but some folks have sniffed too much green paint... But the best Tractors made in the late 50's were NOT JD....
