Boy do I get a kick out of this red vs green noise! But I can't help but wonder how much of it is actually fact, and how much is emotion or old advertising hooey. Back when this brand thing was first heating up, ole AD Baker rigged his test fan (by swapping pulleys till he got the best results) so that a 36" flywheel would get optimum performance at public demonstrations. The competitors machines with slightly larger or smaller flywheels for some reason didn't do as well on Mr. Baker's fan.... JI Case had their famous incline test, it was something a small Case steamer did very well.... Huber would have their machine straddle a large object, and so on.... You don't hear much today of a Case steam man running down a Baker owner, though. They're both kinda worried about the tractor pull guys who are trying to run them off the showgrounds. :( So, on that note, you boys just keep on arguing over red and green, the steam boys will sleep better knowin y'all still don't agree... :)
