There's kind of a shopping list of simple things, Dave. Starting at the front, how's your belt tension? If the generator has been rebuilt, have you polarized it? Is your regulator of the right polarity? Some are specific to + or - ground, others are indifferent. Are your contacts, especially ALL the grounds, and especially those for the battery and your regulator, clean and shiny? Could be anything, but those are a few things to look at first.
