I'm not sure what specific differences exist between Perkins turbo and N/A engines... but a general rule in many is that the turbo engine will have a nitrided (case hardened) crank, heavier connecting rods with larger wrist pins, heavier pistons, keystone rings, piston cooler jets, and quite often a different angle valve grind and possibly heavier valves. Also a higher CFM fan and possibly a larger rad and probably an engine oil cooler to dissapate more heat. Larger flow injectors (in some cases) and higher flow settings on the pump would be the other major difference. That said... there are lots and lots of N/A engines out there that got turbo's added and lots of them ran a long time. I think the key, as already mentioned.... if you use it to pull the same gear a bit faster and use it as a torque RESERVE, you'll get along fine. If you lug the crap out of it every day you're likely to see a piston meltdown.
