Well I don't think you'll get lucky enough to use the original bracket without some mods.As I remember the front motor mount really gets in the way with the D-17. I used a GM 10SI one-wire alt. with the extended pivot front housing to get up and over that motor mount. The wiring is simple,run wire from output terminal of alt. into the wire that comes off the BAT terminal of orig. voltage regulator swap leads on back of the AMP meter and swap leads on the distributor and ground NEG post of battery. The starter won't know the difference. Hope that helps.
