Hi ratskinner, I restored Rolls-Royce cars for a few years. On the early cars cost was no object. The best materials, the best methods, and the best workmanship. They sealed their aluminum blocks and heads with water glass. But that was then. We had them resealed by resin impregnating in a vacuum chamber. I've worked for several shops that built race cars and/or engines. One of those shops modified production cylinder heads in a way that guaranteed a crack in each combustion chamber. This was dealt with using an sealing compound that went into the coolant. Amazingly they didn't leak! When dragsters were using production early hemi cylinder heads they would ofter crack in the combustion chamber, and this same sealant was used in those. I don't remember what it was, but it doesn't matter. That was over thirty years ago, and I'm sure something better is available today. And that's my point(finally!). Water glass is 75 year old technology and there is better stuff available. Why not do a little research and use something better?....Al English

It wasn't to relive memories of Grampa, Dad or myself out on the back 40 nursing the Farmall pulling too many b
