You would be incorrect. I WOULD HAVE lost my Dad had he been wearing a seat belt years ago. He was driving his work van when a crash occurred and it rolled. He ended up in the passenger seat, a very large air compressor end up in the drivers seat.
You can CHOOSE to wear one if you like. I choose not to. But the nanny state can pull me over and give me a ticket for it as a primary offense. So it is all about revenue collection, nothing more. Just like red light cameras. Same thing. They don't ticket the driver of the vehicle who actually committed the offense, they ticket the OWNER of the vehicle.
I would like to see alcohol eliminated completely as it kills thousands of innocent people per year. Are you in favor of that?
