I would suggest a utility tractor for your purposes. A larger row crop tractor would be good if you intend to use it for tillage or haying. I own a '54 Ford NAA, a '56 ford 960 , '68 ford 4000 and '65 Oliver 770, all used for farm amd utility work. The smaller fords are much handier for the type of work you intend to do then the 770. (smaller, more manueverable lower, lighter less room to store. ) I would recommend a tractor with a 3 point hitch as there are so many implements you can use with one. A ford naa 600-800 series or 2000-3000 would be good. also 9n-2n 8n fords although they lack live hydraulics which you should have for a mounted bush hog. Other good options are massey35-50-65 or135-150-165, a-c D12-D15though some of these had the a-c snap coupler instead of three pt hitch. Also I-H 300-350-340 504 util. some of these had IH 2 pt hitch.) JD's are ok the 2 cyl. util tractors bring alot more for a collector's item then thier worth as a work tractor as JD70 Jim said.

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
