The best starting fluid is WD-40. It does a good job without the harm of starting fluid. Cranking speed is very important. If your tractor has glow plugs. Remove one glow plug, keep the injection pump at the off position and crank the engine for 10 secinds. while cranking count the number of puffs you here in 10 seconds and multiply the count be 12 and this will equal engine RPM. A good diesel should have at least 14 puffs per 10 seconds of cranking. This equals 168 RPM.
