All it takes is power steering and a tire against an immovable object. Or pushing against said immovable object with the tire. Either will put compression loading on the drag link and cause it to bow. Much better than a broken spindle, or axle. A more tidy solution is to get it straight, and put another tube over it. Tubing can be had in many diameters, and one should come close to snug. The only reality check here is if the tierod ends are frozen to the tube, then the angle iron is ugly but quick. remember putting reinforcement on it is like putting a bigger fuse in a circuit! There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
