I do not approve of these rightaway abandment either but we all know operating cost go up and up, the rail lines are funded only by thenselves and than you got these giant grain companies telling what they will pay or else.. I believe the justice dept. should have done something to stop the cargil-continental merger and now tyson-ibp, they are not and will not help the rail, plus how about the mergers in the petroleum part of the rip-off artists..One other thing is the railroads at one time where mostly in the country, noweverybody wants to build a house in the country, after they live in the house, it finally dawns on them that a train in nearby and it makes a lot of noise at 3 in the morning, got to stop it, than they want crossing gates because one person wasn't smart enough to look for a train and lost the race. The shipper pays!!
