I've heard of people being laid off and even fired by a message left on their answering machine. The place I bought my skid steer used to be pretty good and only sold/rented skid steers and attachments. The Kubota industrial and AG dealer went under because the new owners were complete idiots. It was also a long time MF dealer. The skid steer shop got the Kubota lines and also took on Gehl. Every other equipment dealer was doing great but they were going down. I talked with a mechanic who had worked there almost from day 1. He said the owner came into the lunch room and said that he was paying for 2 15 minute coffee breaks a day when only 10 minutes is mandatory. He was going to be deducting 10 minutes a day from everyones pay cheque for the last 6 months! The mechanic quit on the spot. What's even worse is that the employees were told things were getting better and agreed to wait to be paid. The mechanic I knew, who was excellent as well as several others, never got paid for their last 3 months of work. I saw the mechanic at the receivership auction and he said that half the equipment wasn't even in the auction. That's really crappy. Dave
