i would say if it sounds like a hit an miss then you have a problem. why should it be miss firing? you should have an even steady puff, puff, out the exhaust.its not a hit and miss so it shouldnt sound like one.could be governor or carb adjustment. maybe points, timing.i know the D will idle smooth and even as can be when tuned up. you can count each time the plugs fire.
