Assuming 100% efficiency for a non vented heater which is unrealistically high. One US gallon of kerosene with 135,000 btu's of energy. Has equal heat to 39.6Kw hrs of electricity. In round numbers that one gallon of kerosene is worth $4.00 of electricity at 10cents per Kw/hr.$6.00 of electricity at 15 cents and $8.00 of electricity at 20 cents.
A 1500W heater makes 5100btu per hour for a measly 15,22.5 or 30 cents per hour. That's enough heat to keep most rooms or work shop bench areas habitable.
Lets also consider the electricity can function on a stat or timer. Uses no oxygen from the room. Doesn't require cold air to be vented in and warm air vented out of the room. The electrical "tank" doesn't run empty, can run for weeks unatended. No wicks to replace. No splash, spill and re-filling. No open flame fire hazard. No time or fuel spent driving around for kerosene. Does your insurance company know about the kerosene heater?
Add 30% to 100% to the kerosene price to compete head to head with electricity.
