When these tractors were new, 500 acres minimum. Now that they are affordable, it's up to you. Remember this size tractor was and are bought for a reason. Absolute hammer down day-in day-out hard work. Most of them have troubles to spare after 4 or 5 years of this type of work and they are not cheap to fix. $ 10,000 for transmission work is ordinary.
