Hi Bob, Thanks for your reply. I know that the alt. is not working as the voltage should increase when the tractor is started. For RPM, I don't think that the little J.D. MT will hit 2,000. In fact, the engine will not run that. Now this leads me to the next question. Since a one wire is put on now, how do I put a three wire on? There is the connector on top of the alt. so the other two wires could be plugged in. You see, I do not know who tried to put the system on. I don't know if they even knew what they were doing. The guy that lives across the street from my Mom in Tennessee has a 420 J.D. that has the one wire system on it. To make it start charging he has to turn the lights on. He can then turn them back off and it will continue working. However, I do not have lights on my MT so that won't work. If I were to go purchase a Delco alternator from the parts store, what would I have to add to the wire harness to get it to work? Thanks again for your reply. Bill McKinney
