My wife's sister had her whole house replumbed in Florida. The house was built about 20 years ago and all her neighbor's had their plumbing replaced free since everyone had leaking problems.
I don't know if her late husband told them they didn't have any leaks and they didn't need to bother, but her home was the only one that didn't have the plumbing replaced. Anyway she was told to get 3 estimates and the plumber used Pex. I think the cost was around $7000.00.
Since those homes don't have basements all the plumbing is overhead in the attic and they did this last summer. Since they had to cut into the wallboard to gain access to the water pipes they paid for the repair on the walls and for the repainting. Hal

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
