When we started back in 68, we used the local paper and by word of mouth. As we started to hunt away from home in the early 70's, we use to go driving around and looking for them. After we found one and bought it we would stop by a local public place like a gas station and normally someone would stop by and say, I have a old tractor I would like to get rid of. By the time the 80's rolled around we got a little smarter as to what tractors were a little rare. We also figured out were certain types of tractors were shipped, example would be the styled D (they were all over Arkansas). Big 2 cylinders like the R, 730 standards were all over Kansas. We then ran adds in the local papers were we thought the tractors would be, and if we were lucky we would find someone that could help look for us for a small fee. By the time the late 80's rolled around we were into hi crops. Lousiana was a great source for them. Today I like using the internet search engines at the tractor classifieds.
