One of Ford's favorite stunts was using larger diameter, narrow profile rings. If you take your standard kit from weatherhead or whomever... there's going to be probably 40 different sizes in that kit with perhaps 4 or 5 different profile thicknesses. What Ford would do... move up to a slightly larger diameter and thin profile. The fat one won't fit. The thin one stretched to fit will leak... I've just gotten to the point where I keep the kit and buna stock around and glue those as needed. I don't know if they used the odd sizes to make a proprietary part or that's just how it worked out with the space confines and line sizes they used... but it sure makes for a pain. An expensive pain.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
